(as Simone practices her villain song for the umpteenth time)

I can't help but think that the hyenas in The Lion King should have spent a great deal more time contemplating the notion of no king whatsoever.

Scar:] No, fool-- we're going to kill him. And Simba too.
[Shenzi:] Great idea! Who needs a king?
[Shenzi (and then Banzai):]
No king! No king! la--la-la--la-laa-laa!
[Scar:] Idiots! There will be a king!
[Banzai:] Hey, but you said, uh...
[Scar:] I will be king! ...Stick with me, and
you'll never go hungry again!
[Banzai:] Yaay! All right! Long live the king!
[Shenzi:] But wait! No king, more food,
Am I right?
[Banzai:] uh....Yaaay! All right! No more kings!
Well, yeah!

Today's lesson in narrative and the forms of drama is called "The Idiot Plot."
It is also true that the Lion King is full of idiot plot moments -- Scar has to be the laziest-ass, most incompetent villain ever.
