On Marriage Equality

Simone: "Am I going to get married?"

Me: "That's up to you. You don't have to."

Simone: "I want to get married."

Me: "OK. Who do you want to get married to?"

Simone: [long pause] "Um. Can two girls get married?"

Me: "Yes."

Simone: "OK. [another pause.] But I'm a boy."

Me: "That's fine. Two boys can get married too. You can marry anybody you like."

Simone: "I want Shayna to marry me."

Me: "You want to get married to Shayna?"

Simone: "No. I want Shayna to marry me."

Your children make me want to be a parent.
You can also get married if you're not a girl OR a boy: two much beloved trans (non binary-gendered) friends did just that and will celebrate their second anniversary in two weeks time.
I figured that was covered under "you can marry anybody you like" :)
Me: "You want to get married to Shayna?"

Simone: "No. I want Shayna to marry me."

ADORABLE! And I wonder what she thinks the difference is between those two things?
Maybe Shayna just officiates, and she marries herself.
No doubt at all who's a top here, is there?
