Reading and Listening has apparently taken an extended Thursday engagement.

Almost done with Black Deutschland. What a fantastic book. Along the way I also read Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which is super-cute and stars G.'s new favorite comic book character, incidentally.

Have you read The Argonauts? if so, I wondered what you thought of it.
I have read it! A couple months ago now. (https://pantryslut.dreamwidth.org/2015/11/11/)

I really liked it. It hit the sweet spot of theory plus memoir plus more theory, but not the dry and abstract kind. I am very grateful that it was written and is out there in the world. My co-worker did complain that it didn't talk enough about how the central relationship looked highly heteronormative from the outside even if it wasn't on the inside, but of course the counter to that is, one can only guess what it looks like to other people (like when G. and I were mistaken for gay/lesbian co-parents, to our surprise), and it's OK to not be so much interested in that. And also of course that writing the book is a great way toward undermining that, too.

I am surprised, I admit, that it's gotten the attention it has from a wider audience, but I don't think that's a bad thing overall.
I'm so glad you liked it - I really liked it too. Before reading it, I had never heard of Maggie Nelson or Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, so now there is a lot more I want to read.
