reading tiger

I snuck out of the house with G. -- almost spontaneously! -- to catch the Manic D reading at Books Inc. this evening.

I am so glad I did.

Three moments hit me hard tonight, over and above the general level of greatness brought by Justin Chin (!!! as always), Daniel LeVesque, Thea Hillman and everyone else. In no particular order:

1) Daphne Gottlieb's poem "In Praise of Weeds." I will never look at a / the same way again.

2) Larry-bob Roberts' remark about how we create apocalypses and dystopias because we can't face the future we're seeing unfolding right before us.

3) Lynnee Breedlove's line about how some of us are becoming the queer men we lost in the 80s and 90s.

I just wanted to make a note of it while I still remembered.
